Nathan Handwerker opens his hot dog stand on the corner of Surf and Stillwell Avenues in Coney Island, New York. Nathan uses a special hot dog recipe developed by his wife Ida's grandmother. In an effort to keep the recipe secret, Nathan hires two spice providers, each developing half of the famous recipe.
